COMP TOOLS #2: Frame Inside a Frame

What is FRAMING and why should you care?

As photographers, every image we capture is a frame. In a sense, we are curators of visual information - meaning that we decide what to include and what NOT to include in the frame.

Simply by making a photograph of a subject, we are drawing our audience's attention to that subject. But the technique often referred to as 'framing' or 'the frame within the frame' is a way to accentuate or emphasize our subject to an even greater extent.

Framing our subject is another way to add interesting elements or context to the photograph.

And to be TOTALLY honest, trying to find a 'frame within a frame' can make a typically boring situation SO much more fun and interesting for the photographer!

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:
1. Do some research on 'Framing in Photography' and post that research to your blog along with examples of framing you find interesting and/or particularly effective.

2. Take the next couple of days to ONLY shoot images that contain the 'frame within a frame' around your subject.  Take at least 70 photos and post the best 10 on your blog.

3. When you have your 70 photos, get some feedback from a classmate AND Mr.Whitworth to see how you might improve.
